Following lunch, we drove toward Sidemen through beautiful mountain roads and traditional Balinese villages.
We arrived at Aura Cendana Hill Sidemen at approximately 6:10 PM. The guests completed their check-in smoothly and were excited to enjoy their stay surrounded by Sidemen’s peaceful rice field views.

A few of the platforms built out over the terraces also offer the well-known jungle swing, though on this visit the couple preferred to simply walk the paths at their own pace and take photos from the viewing area rather than join the queue for the swing.
Inside the canyon at Tukad Cepung, the sound of the waterfall echoing off the rock walls is almost as memorable as the light itself, and with the afternoon timing of this visit the sun was lower, giving a softer glow through the gap in the cliffs rather than the sharp beams photographers chase in the late morning. The guests still found it one of the more atmospheric stops of the day, even without the strongest light, simply because of how enclosed and quiet the canyon feels compared to a typical waterfall.
Mahagiri Restaurant in Rendang was a welcome stop after a long day of driving and sightseeing, with an open-air setting that looks straight across the valley toward Mount Agung. Arriving in the late afternoon meant we caught the mountain with good visibility, something that is not guaranteed later in the day once cloud typically builds up around the peak, and the guests took a few extra minutes just sitting with the view before we continued the final stretch to Sidemen.
